The signing of the agreement by Professor Steven McGuire (Head of School for BMEc) and Professor Jiye Mao (Dean of the Renmin University School of Business) was accompanied by the announcement of a new research collaboration focusing on innovation management and entrepreneurship. Renmin School of Business was also formally welcomed as the third member of the Intrapreneurship Hub, a joint project initiated by Sussex and SDA Bocconi School of Management that examines how firms of all sizes innovate.

To celebrate Renmin’s membership, a joint workshop took place in Beijing, dedicated to examining entrepreneurship in all its forms and its role in university education. Representing BMEc and presenting papers on their current research were Dr Monica Masucci (Department of Business and Management), Dr Josh Siepel and Professor Joe Tidd (both SPRU). Renmin academics presented work on research and development practices in China, and on innovation management practices in Chinese firms.

Professor McGuire commented:

"This event represents the first stage of a developing collaboration between BMEc and one of China’s best management schools and is based on our shared interest and expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship. We will continue to strengthen this link and the benefits will be seen in our teaching as well as in our research impact."
